Trinity Ward

The following information is taken from the Trinity Ward information booklet which is produced for the use of patients on the ward

The Ward
Trinity Ward is a busy mixed male and female ward with 21 beds, comprising a male ward with 9 beds and a female ward with 10 beds and one double palliative care unit. Each bed is supplied with a call bell system, radio and TV listening facilities. The TV on each ward is mute for the comfort of all patients. There is a normal TV and radio/cassette player in the Day Room
A named nurse will be responsible for the care of each patient. In her absence a named colleague will be responsible

Money and valuables
Any money or valuables should ideally be sent home with relatives. If patients are unable to do this, it should be handed in for safe keeping and a receipt obtained.
The Hospital cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to property not handed in for safe custody.

Visiting
Official visiting is every day between 2 and 8pm. However, if for any reason visitors have difficulty visiting between these times, please let the nurse know as they can usually be flexible. Children are allowed to visit but this should be checked with Sister if they are very small.

Laundry
There are no facilities for laundering personal clothing so this should be arranged with relatives or friends. There is however a limited amount of clothing which may be used in an emergency.

There is no library service but books and magazines are available in the Day Rooms.

Spiritual Needs
The Church of England minister visits regularly. If patients wish to see any minister, this can be arranged by asking the staff.

Hairdressing
If patients wish to have their hair cut or set, they can arrange for their hairdresser to visit at any time convenient to the ward. Nurses do help but only if nursing routines allow.

Relative's meals
If it is necessary for patient's relatives to stay in the hospital, food can be purchased from the staff canteen by asking the nursing staff.

Smoking
The Harrogate Health Care Trust operates a “No Smoking” policy. Smoking is only allowed in the Garden Room and visitors are requested not to smoke.

Telephone
There is a portable telephone in the front hall which is also used as a public telephone. If patients cannot go to the phone, it can be brought onto the ward for use.

Doctors
Patients are looked after by their own doctor whilst in the hospital, but if for any reason he/she is unable to see them, someone else from the practice will visit.

Discharge from hospital
Discharge planning is a priority. If any problems are anticipated, appropriate agencies will be asked for assistance such as Home Carers, District Nurses, Meals on Wheels, Care Managers, Day Hospital attendance, Occupational Therapists etc.
